Fri - Sun September 1 - 3, 2023 Windjammer Festival
Camden Windjammer Festival features the largest gathering of schooners in the Northeast. Held on Labor Day Weekend, Camden’s annual celebration brings two full days of nautical events and exhibits celebrating Camden’s maritime heritage. Entrance to the Camden Windjammer Festival is free.
As many as 18 windjammers and schooners parade into the harbor on opening day. From fireworks over the harbor on Friday night to Saturday’s highlight – the Lobster Crate Race – where contestants race across a line of crates trying to avoid falling into the salty brine, guests are sure to have a blast. The fish relay race is another spectacle, in which teams carry slippery fish and toss it into a “ship’s hold.”

Local day-sailing schooners are available daily to treat passengers to a taste of the seafaring life on Penobscot Bay. Details on website: facebook.com/WindjammerFestival

Gwyn has lived Maine since the 1990’s. Her art is based on seeing, perceiving and responding to the power of nature and the quiet beauty in the world. Creative ideas are set in motion during relaxed concentration while sketching, doodling and/or painting outdoors, en plein air, from still life or live models. In the studio she tries to enhance and refine natural patterns and light by layering intense, transparent colors with semi-opaque softer “veils” of paint.

Wed December 6, 2023 Art Opening Anne Cox

Artist Anne Cox showing in the Craignair Gallery from December 6 – January 3.

I have a professional background in landscape design. Currently I continue to develop and tend the landscape and gardens surrounding the Hedgerow Market and Gallery, in Martinsville. I also grow the organic vegetables that we sell at our seasonal market.

Since moving here in 1997 I have designed, installed, and tended many gardens in the midcoast area. In 2007 I began designing and hooking rugs, many of which have received Viewers’ Choice Awards at the Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild shows, and in 2018, I was a featured artist at one of the shows. I started painting, mainly in oil, in 2015. In both the rugs and the paintings I am working to understand and reflect the patterns and beauty of the world I encounter. Hedgerowdesign.com for more info.
